147 Selespeed Question

Is there any reason for panic if I got a warning of Selespeed failure while driving and gear change was fine? I got a warning on my 147 yesterday saying Selespeed System Failure while driving, I was slowing down when this happened, but the gears changed down as per normal. Has anyone ever experienced this? It never happened again though. Is it normal?

Re: 147 Selespeed Question

I wouldn't say it's normal. I'd keep an eye on it if I were you. Check your SS oil level is OK in the 1st instance (although I don't know whether this could cause what you've been experiencing).

Re: 147 Selespeed Question

How do you check Selespeed oil levels? Is it true that my sound system could affect my selespeed system, they say the selespeed gearbox uses a lot of current, and my extra sound system could be draining current, could that also be a cause?

Re: 147 Selespeed Question

Brettness - there's loads on this site that explains how to check the ss oil. Do a search and you'll find the answer. The ss checking is easy - but your problem could a multitude of things, eg, low ss oil, ss pump, ss needs a re-calibration, knackered battery....please just search all this out on this site. But as VO2MAx says, it isn't normal. As for the extra sound system, no idea sorry.

Re: 147 Selespeed Question

As rarebear, Sele' requires top rate battery power, so you could well be sucking too much current with your ICE gear?
