Re: glovebox handle fallen off 147

There's two ways, however, I only know of one which I had done my self.

Screw a hole in the back of the glovebox big enough to fit a screwdriver in to gain access to the compartment where the screw is placed. Use a magnetic tool to get the screw out and replace the screw.

Sounds like butchery but believe me, its hardly noticeable unless your really looking for the hole.

I had the same problem....

Some have screwed it back on using specially adjusted..extra short screw bits...

My solution was to glue it back on. It came off again first time but after this second gluing attempt, it has remained fine.

Re: glovebox handle fallen off 147

I glued mine back on, it sounds like a bodge but I didn't want to cut or drill through the glove box lid. I used an Araldite-type 2 part super glue that's done the job just fine, did it a few months ago and it's held on fine.

Re: glovebox handle fallen off 147

There are other threads about this subject too.

I think I've got some pics of how I did mine (small hole drilled from the back of the glovebox to give access for the right sized Torx bit).

Glueing isn't necessary but re-fitting without drilling is really, really fiddly!

About to sign off for the night so will let you know more tomorrow if that's OK. PM me if you need more info.

Re: glovebox handle fallen off 147

Dealer drilled a hole in the back
of the lid and screwed it back
for me,

Got charged, so cheaper to do
it yourself!
