Bought the old girl 6 years ago, it was 2 years old at the time.
Seller had a private plate that he wanted to keep so stuck an appropriate plate on prior to selling.
I've got the V5, all details correct and have never had a problem with VED reminders.
Couple of years ago I called out Autoglass to replace a windscreen, despite giving them all the details via the webform, when the fitter arrived he said 'I thought the job was an Astra' After a bit of a discussion he said 'we take our info direct from the DVLA, must be wrong on the system'. 'Yeah, sure, whatever you say'.
Following all the recent publicity regarding the VED disc I followed a link to check the Vehicle status of the DVLA website...
..and no details are found.
Have done a bit of a search and found a tool on Autotrader..
Vehicle Check | Check a car’s history on Auto Trader UK
..which would you believe thinks the car is an Astra. Have called the DVLA who obviously couldn't car less about 3rd party websites but confirmed all my details are correct. No explanation as to why nothing is found on their own vehicle check, 'we're having trouble, blah, blah'
I assume the plate the seller swapped his private plate with was on an Astra at some point, could cause me trouble when I finally come to sell it, not sure who I can follow this up with.
All the best
