Temp gauge/rad, brake fluid, bulb warning - 156 2.5 V6
A few issues have developed in my Alfa 156. I originally made a thread about the brake fluid, but figured it'd make more sense just to put everything in here.
1. Temperature gauge / radiator
I went for a drive on Sunday and the temperature gauge was doing some odd things. It would heat up to around half way between the middle and the 3/4 mark (which I believe is ~110 degrees) while sitting in traffic, and then when driving at a reasonable speed it would cool down again to ~90. From what i've read, these cars are supposed to heat up to 90 degrees and just sit there. Could this mean the radiator is in worse condition than previously thought? The mechanic advised that there is a minor leak when it was last in the garage, but I haven't noticed any drop in coolant level or any external leakage.
2. Brake fluid warning
Every now and then, I get a flicker from the handbrake light, usually during heavy acceleration or cornering.
So, according to the manual + these forums it is probably low on brake fluid. However I had the brake fluid level looked at when I got my WOF and the guy said it was okay. Also had the front brake pads replaced a week or two ago - surely they would've checked it then? They're a euro specialist garage so you'd think they'd check that (especially as the light seems to be a common issue). Would check myself but I'm not at home at the moment.
I've read some threads around here where people couldn't solve the issue by topping up the fluid. Could it possibly be a faulty sensor?
3. Light bulb warning
The "faulty bulb" light is coming on intermittently. Originally it came on when I pressed the brakes, then only when I had the headlights on. Now it's gone off again, so there must be something funny going on. Any ideas?
