I’m somewhat confused about how to go about getting a spare key for my 147.
I have looked through the archives and come across several different views, but the main recommendation seems to be to buy directly from an Alfa dealer.
I asked my local indi if he could supply a key. He asked if I had the key code and I said I did. He said he could get me a new key for about £117.00, probably plus vat, that would be exactly the same as the three button black key I have, with all the functions.
Now the problem:
In my owners manual it shows a picture of the code card, with two numbers on it, one for the ‘electronic’ code and one for the ‘mechanical’ code.
I have a 5 digit number for the ‘immobiliser’ written in the back of my service manual, is this the ‘electronic’ number I need? Do I also need a ‘mechanical’ code?
I also note from the owners manual that it states that in the UK, that;
“At the behest of the motor insurance companies, the code card is not provided”
(And I didn’t get one when I purchased the car).
So.., do I have enough information to get a new key and is it likely to be a full functioning key if I don’t use an Alfa dealership to supply it?
