147 Centre console removal

Hey all, recently got myself a 147 and love it. However as I'm sure is the case with all used cars there's a few bits I'd like to sort out.

One of which is that the centre console is cracked down the side of the handbrake! Now, I can get my hands on a new one from eBay the only problem is I don't know how to get the thing off! I've unscrewed everything I can find holding it in place so it's moving freely however I can't seem to get it to lift off over the handbrake / gear stick.

My suspicion is I'll have to disconnect the handbrake cable to be able to lift if off but I thought I'd check on the here to see if anyone has any advice before making any horrible mistakes

No need to remove the handbrake cables, more likely the wiring to the cigar lighter and or the wire that is clipped into the coin holder (where the ASR button is on some models) that is stopping it coming off,
Long time since I removed mine but I did end up removing the passenger seat to give a bit of room as it was really tight getting it out and I didn't want to damage anything.

When I swapped mine for a GT centre console, I just loosened the adjusting nut under the handbrake gaiter to give the lever more travel. When I could get it into an almost upright position the console came off easy.
