I know the subject of oil has been done to death, but dont worry, Im not going to ask what oil to use or where to get it.

As you may have read Ive just bought my 147, and the oil needs topping up. The problem is I dont know what oil is currently in there, 10w40 or 10w60. I want to stick 10w60 in there.

Will it make a difference if I put 10w60 in there, if 10w40 is already in there?

Or should I just stick 10w40 in there until I service it and then put fresh Selenia 10w60 in there?

Re: Oil

I'd go with your last statement.

The handbook says don't mix. If you don't know what's in it now then you can either asume it is 10w40 as the book suggests or you can change the oil now and start fresh.

Isn't 10w60 fully synthetic? What's your thinking behind going for the 10w60?

Re: Oil

theres no need for 10 60 man, the engine was designed for 10 40 and it will perform perfectly well with this in the engine, if you engine wearing and heats up so much that it requires a higher rating oil you should prolly see what is causing it
