Re: V6 Battle: GT Vs 147
You could pick up a JTD GT, and with the difference in price you could spend it on performance mods. With the weight difference and the extra torque of the JTD it probably wouldn't take too much to get it up to the speed of the 3.2, especially at lower speeds where you have the huge torque advantage. Plus you'd have cheaper tax, insurance and fuel bills. I think diesel is the way to go
I do kinda see where you're coming from Pud. I had looked at the diesel, and it drove fine, but didn't feel as torquey as the V6 at any revs and I hated the noise it made. I really did. In the country I grew up in there are almost no deisels, and maybe I'm stuck with a stigma for that, or maybe I'm too much a sporting driver. Whatever the reason, I didn't enjoy my test drives.
Still, if a perfectly spec'd jtd appeared, I'd have to consider it, and see if I could trade off the harsh engine and terrible noise for the £1500 a year fuel/tax/insurance saving.
Still I'm not sure if it's a problem I'll face as there are fewer speced up jtd's than there are V6's!
