I need serious help from people who understand the joy and pain of owning my car ... sorry if i've posted in the wrong place or if this is a bit long but i don't know where to turn!!!
I have a 147 2.0 Selespeed (02) beautiful car unfortunately i have had some troubles over the last year and can't decide if it's time to cut loose.. brief history:
April 06 went in for service and mot to a dealer. Result - new oil sump and some mention of sealing gasket required.. all in all £248... (what they wanted to do but i refused and took the car to another garage was.... cambelt, exhaust bracket, brake discs, handbrake cable, rear washer, indicator light with water in it, play in rear suspension, puncture..etc, etc. £1000+) A different garage took it, repaired the bracket, gave it an mot (£52) and i had the front tyres changed.
No probs until xmas when someone hit the front of my car - a bit of bodywork required - the day i left the bodyshop i had motor function failure! All the gauges went mad - took to an alfa garage (not dealer) head gasket blown due to no coolant (we don't know why). Fixed it for me and did the cambelt change and service (£1500) and today I take it to the petrol station to fill my car and the gauge doesn't work seems to be floating about at its own pace.
So my question is - is this normal - is it my bad maintenance I check the oil and water regularly as i drive 60 miles a day and i have to regularly top up oil..
I now have a years tax and mot should i sell or should i keep trying....please help
