Hi, welcome to AO.
Best to get an ECU scan to see what exactly is wrong with the ABS and Airbag - it could be as simple as one of the cables were broken in the accident / fixing process. Do a search on airbag lights on the forum as there are connectors that can come undone and cause the light to shine - but 1st get the ECU scan so you know what to look for.
As for the battery / remote issue - the immobilizer circuit works separate from the remote - it is passive proximity sensor type device that only activates when the key barrel scans for it. Worst case if you put the battery in and you manage to activate the alarm and not De-activate it for some obscure reason - you will drive around with a screaming alarm, but there are ways to De-activate the alarm - I just forgot how - a search on the forum might get you right.
Personally I use my key in the old school fashion - manual lock in door as it gives me the positive feedback that it is locked and there are quite a bit of remote jammer based car thieves doing the rounds
