GT V6 running hot

Hi I've recntly become an alfa owner in the form of a GT v6 - love the car but I find that once its up to temprature the cooling fans are almost constantly on.

Literally your sat idal for less than 1 minute (say at traffic lights) and the fans start whiring up! Temprature on the guage never goes over 90 so I'm not worried about overheating, just wondered if this was normal as the car seems to be very reliant on them. Any ideas??

No it should'nt be running the fans all the time and i think it has 2 speed fan control but dont know much about the Gt im sure someone will say if it has , so maybe your temp sensor needs renewing

The 3.2 is certainly heavier on the cooling than the 2.5, and you do get the fans kicking in pretty quickly when stationary. Check that the radiator fins are good - they do corrode and the cooling capacity diminishes.

Stuck in traffic the 2.5 is constantly on fan/off fan. Its a hot little lump. I believe the first stage or low speed fan kicks in at 93deg and the high speed at 98 ish.
If the air-con is switched on (assuming it's working) the fans work more.

If your air con is on, then the fan will run much of the time regardless of engine temp.

As long as it never goes over the 0 of the 90 it's all good.
