Changing seats in 156 sportwagon

HI guys! I am looking at replacing my cloth seats for leather ones. Is there anything I should be looking at? Is there any special connectors that the leather ones would have?

I'll keep an eye on this as I want to do the same. Are the leather seats heated but cloth aren't?

Leather seats are not necessarily heated - that is another extra as was back recliner motor another extra.

If you had cloth seats, most probably had no options, then replacing them with leather seats without options will be straight forward. If you manage to find seats with heating and/or reclining motor, then those functions will be tricky to get going if you have-to-have those working.

On the 166 they were all pre-wired for all options.
I assumed the 156 might be the same?

I had the wires and connector for the electric recline etc hidden under the carpet on my 156 for the GTA seats but not the connector for the heated seats.

On the 156's, can you turn the heated seats on at any time or only when the heater is on?

Changing to leather

I have evenly upgraded the complete interior from cloth to leather in my sportwagon, including all door cards etc. It's a simple enough job as long as you do it carefully. Firstly disconnect your battery for at least 45 mins before you remove the fron seats and disconnect the airbag cables. you can reuse all the existing bolts and fasteners. Just work through it systematically. Do the rears first but remove all the seats in one go as it gives you more room to move and you can give the carpets a deep clean etc. The rear side bolsters can be a little still to remove if they have never been off so be aware but don't force them.

Good luck
