147 brake options- solid, grooved and drilled discs?
That wear pattern is normal, mine did the same. You need a few hard stops from speed. It's worse, I read, on pads like EBC that have a 'break in' coating on the pad that isn't dead flat. It speeds up bedding in though.
The spring can be a bugger to get tight if it is old they loose their springiness. Buy a pair of new ones, clear out the holes with a coat hanger or a high pressure squirt of brake cleaner then fit the new ones and bash them in good and proper. It should take a fairly fierce yank to pull them out.
Could be worse, first time I did front brakes I put the springs on the wrong way round so they forced the pads away from the disc, each pedal press went to the floor unless you pumped them. The garage I went to laughed a lot.
