After my RX-8 conked out on me last week i decided i needed something a little more economical, good looking and with a bit of class so I decided on an Alfa GT.
I managed to pick up a very cheap (In my opinion) 54 plate GT 1.9 JTD 16V M-jet
Its a little worn here and there as you would expect but has full service history and I felt it was a deal for the price.
Ive noticed a few issues with it since purchasing it however and I just wanted your opinions on the best way forward dealing with them.
Im a very limited with fixing/fiddling with cars but I eager to try and always happy to save a few pounds doing so.
heres my list of issues:
the electric windows have randomly stopped working.
the light on the passenger window button is still on however the drivers side is off. i know that the windows themselves are working fine as they open and close slightly as i open the doors. this suggests that it is an issue with the fuse/electronics.
along with this the boot will not open pressing the button inside the car or using the key fob. the only way to open it is manually using the little red string.
the odometer has begun to flash. - i have read that this could be a faulty body computer /ecu ideally i dont want to be shelling out £400 for a new one (i was hoping to put that towards some alloys)
there is a noise from the passenger headlight (likely the motor to change the angle) this hopefully will be a simple fix thanks to this post: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...s-buzzing.html
When I turn the car on a warning for ride and left side lights comes on. There are working bulbs in the side lights although they are very very dim. should I try new bulbs or could this be related to my other issues?
I have a good read of articles on the forums and come up with some useful information but i just wanted some ideas on what needs to be done.
im going to take a close look at it at the weekend.
1. fix or at least unplug the light motor and manually adjust the headlights
2. change the sidelight bulbs
3. have a poke around the ECU, and consider taking it out and ensuring its dry (as suggested in http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...r-failure.html
does this sound reasonable? is there any way of ensuring that water isnt getting in (im assuming water/damp is the issue) any joins that should be better sealed etc.
sorry for the long post, any tips or help would be appreciated.
thanks for your time,
