Self adjusting clutch replacement - 20V
I've made a start last night stripping the car to replace clutch/flywheel. I researched the procedure so thought I knew what I was doing. However, the box for the new LUK clutch states clearly that an (v.expensive) special tool must be used when tightening the clutch housing to the flywheel. Its a self-adjusting clutch with an internal ratcheting system and it seems the tool is required to prevent the ratchet system moving. The last clutch I did was on a Triumph Spitfire so this is all too much of a learning curve for me. Can someone illuminate if its possible to fit without the tool? A look on the internet reveals a lot of confusion on this matter. As far as I can see, the tool appears to hold the clutch fingers down while the fixing bolts are tightened.
