Re: 156 2.4 jtd....Confused!!
Best guesses from me....
Most if not all the 03 2.4 JTD's with the old nose and facelift interior were 10v versions with an output of 150bhp, re-mappable to over 190bhp anyway.
Some of them by rumour (very late models?) seem to have been 175bhp versions, sort of like a factory re-map done or else just some specs being mixed up, which is confusing as this is also the power output of the 2.4 JTD 20v. As I said this is a rumour which may be a total myth which grew from people confusing the 20v and 10v versions though my insurance company definitely lists the 2.4 JTD - 175 (10v) as an option
Check the V5 document, it might state the rated power of the engine but that will be in Kw.
150 bhp = 110 kw
175bhp = 128 kw
both figures approximate.
The 10v is clearly a single cam engine, the 20v is a twin cam, that should be reasonably easy to identify on the engine. If it is a 10v safest to presume it is 150bhp unless the owner has some reliable documentation showing it isn't.
As far as I know the 20v 175bhp version only appeared when the car had it's nose job done in late 03 (September on I think so probs be on a 53 plate, not an 03)
