Power steering reservoir

My power steering was sounding quite whiney so i decided to check the fluid level, noticed it was really low so i topped it up and its sounding better now, but when i was screwing the reservoir cap back on i noticed the hose thing on top of the cap isn't connected to anything can anybody tell me if this is right or have i broken something?

Thanks, Scott

Re: Power steering reservoir

Don’t worry, it is ok. The hose is there only to equalize the pressure when the fluid level is going down.

Anyway if you had low fluid level, have the power steering checked. It might leak somewhere. Especially the silver pipes on the inner side of the wheel. There is a cooling spiral under front right light, check the hoses going from the spiral to the pipes. They tend to leak very slowly.
