My first suggestion would be that you sell me your GT, and get something without Xenons, possibly even LHD for your travels.
Failing that, you should just be able to use tape. The reason it can be ineffective is that the beam auto adjusts for hight as the car pitches. If you use a simple mask at what is the level during avarage ride hight (including bags in the boot for the trip) that will sort it out. Just tape across the glass in a way that it blocks the beam as it tries to angle up and left. Parked up against a wall you'll see it easily.
I might also add that alot of Alfa's past have a switchy-flap on the back of the light unit to convert it too a flat beam, which is what the tape would achive anyway. Notsure if it's the case on the GT, as I don't have one yet.
