I've had my GT for a month or so now. I love it!
But the joy of buying a new car has been tarnished by finding that the car has had a scrape on the front. Long story short, I didn't notice this when buying the car, and am kicking myself for that.
It looks like the previous owner, when leaving a parallel parking space, scraped the front nearside against the car in front. There is some tell-tale red scuff on the number plate.
I noticed it when I gave the car a good wash, I noticed the front NS headlight was loose, the plastic 'arm' going to the retaining bolt on the top has snapped. The light was wobbly! Then I noticed the bumper fit along that side is out of alignment, slightly pushed up and in.
I ordered a new headlight, that's sorted, but I have a couple of questions, being a total newbie, bear with me....
1) Looking at the damage in the pic you can see the bumper is pushed up and in slightly on the nearside. How easy is this to fix? What would be involved?
2) The nearside indicator seems cracked round the seal as it's misting on the inside. Looking at the indicators, are these the blackline ones?
I'll add a couple of extra questions, just for laughs!
3) The wheels are 18" Q2 wheels, and the road noise is pretty bad up front. Tracking is ok. Tyres are Dunlop Sport Maxx. Is this kinda normal with GT's? I see alot of threads about it, but can't decide if its to be expected or can be sorted.
4) On the door sills there is paint missing, on the lower door shuts, like the doors are too heavy and rubbing paint off. Is this normal?
5) Did I buy a lemon?
From 6 years of Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 ownership I found it difficult to find a new car I could live with (need fuel economy), I found it in the GT, I do love it, but feel sad that the one I got seems to have issues.
On the plus side, engine is sorted, cam belt & water pump done straight away, 53k on the clock.
Thanks for any replies.
