Rust spot to treat?

Hi fellow alfa-owners!

My bella (156 V6) has a rust spot about 1inch square just underneath the rear drivers-side door - on the sill(?) where the join is.

What's the best way to treat this? I don't want my bella being eaten away by rust if I can help it...

Do I need to match colour codes for the treatment, and if so, how do I find this information out?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Rust spot to treat?

Sorry I don't really have the answers but somebody should be along soon who does.
Paint codes are usually around the shutlines of the boot or tailgate on the other Alfas.
It's a bit unlucky you have a spot on a join.
Typically you would wire brush off the loose stuff, brush on rust eater, leave it 15 mins, wire brush off, rust eater/wire brush over and over until the metal's really clean, then rust converter e.g. Kurust or maybe someone can help with one that works then Zinc primer, then base coat, colour coat, laquer, job done.

Re: Rust spot to treat?

Hi Alan. What colour is your car? Black is good for a spray job. Colour code will be on one of the ID plates under the bonnet, normally a three didget number ie: 601. Do you have any piccy's of troubled area?
