Selespeed - Fluid Contamination
I've had my 156 2.0TS for 3 months of carefree driving and it's happened - Selespeed problem.
Started last night when I had to reverse into the drive; came to a stop (from forward) prior to selecting reverse and gear went straight into neutral and on came the selespeed warning caption (flashing). Nothing - no gear would select. Turned off the engine - counted to 10 - started again - still no activity in the gear department. Then, after about 1 min the flashing stopped, I was able to select R and in I went.
Hoping against all the odds this might just be a software glitch I took her for a run this AM. Started OK (tho' she's been like a 'Roo' for the first few gear changes over the past few weeks) and off I go for a couple of miles - AOK. Pull in to turn around and.....straight into N, flashing caption and a non-functioning gear box. Repeat engine shutdown/start and, again, after about 30 seconds caution goes out.
I proceeded but then became stuck in 3 for a mile (caption flashing) then it cleared so home I go, reversing without problem.
Straight to this forum. Noted the recent thread which mentioned cleaning the relay so did that. Started car, warning light falshing, car stuck in N, unable to select CITY. No sound of pump activating on door opening (tho' it was first thing this AM).
Next stop - the fluid reservoir. I last checked it about 3 weeks ago when the level was spot on and the fluid a pure as driven snow. Today I took the top off and out bubbled white, milky fluid.
What could have caused this contamination and how do I go about getting it out of the system........help........please!
