How to disassemble the steering wheel covers?

my GT hasn't got the steering wheel buttons to control my headunit.
I want to disassemble the grey covers and paint them in black.
How can I get them out?
Do I have to remove the two screws at the backside?
Do I also have to remove the airbag?

Or are the bezels just clipped in?

You will need to remove the airbag to get them out, that is what the screws at the back hold on, but before doing this disconnect the battery first for 30 mins (IIRC) to stop accidentally setting the airbag off.
Once you get the airbag off the covers come off easily.
