My Alfa needs help
Hello guys, my 20v decided to breakdown on me today after a trip to London and back. I accelerated away from a roundabout and there was a huge puff of smoke I thought it was a bit too much.
After about 60-70 miles, I stopped by a friend and I started the car again, I noticed the steering was really stiff whilst the engine was running and the battery light on the dashboard was on. There was also a smell of burning but that soon went.
I decided to just carry on home and there was a funny sound from the engine. i quickly switched off the engine. I tried it again and it wouldn't turn. I called the RAC and tried to crank the engine and it started but there was a shrieking sound from the cam-belt area.
The RAC guy suggested it might be the tensioners.
Any ideas? It looks like I will have to pay a garage to scrap it since its not really worth my while to try and fix.
Anyone who needs a project is welcome to it.
