Re: 3.0 into 156 2.5
is there a longblock alfa V6? i was under the impression that the blocks were essentially the same. if you had a 3.2 crank u could technically fit it into a 2.5 block, rite?
max u can go for 2.5 crank is 3.5L, with a 3.2 crank u can go up to 3.7/3.8L.
the block from the older gen V6 - 164, 155, etc - is slightly different, so its not a direct drop-in to a 156. the newer gen V6 from the 166, GTA is a direct drop-in for your 2.5V6.
however, for sake of cost, u can always transfer the internals - crank, conrods, pistons, barrels - from an older 164 V6 lump into a newer gen block. there's a little "adapter" u need to machine to fit the older crank to your newer block - compare old and new cranks and it should be quite obvious - but that's about it.
that was how i did my conversion. if u do it that way, u can re-use ur original newer 2.5V6 head. it fits just fine and raises comp by just a bit more for some nice torque. re-use your original injectors and MAF, mate it to a squadra remap with 45mm intake runners and ur ready to rock! 200whp easy for a manual. i get 195 whp on my auto.
