The V6 becoming problematic at high mileage is not my experience. We got ours 'nearly new' - 10k miles, 9 months old and 50% off....and I still drive it. Now at 87k, doing 300 miles a week commuting.
The engine has needed nothing other than routine servicing. Regular oil changes, belts on time and plenty of petrol. It has eaten a lot of suspension components, but we live down a very rough track, and it does take a bit of a beating. It has had 2 CVs, a couple of new hoses and a clutch. That's pretty much it.
I did a major overhaul at Christmas, full Eibach + B6 conversion + Quaife + clutch. The car drives perfectly, feels like new, and humiliates pretty much everything on roundabouts.
If I had a barn I'd have this one off you and store it. However I have no barn and 5 Alfas, so domestically am on thin ice already.
