Re: 2.4 jtd
Check wheel bearing whine esp' from the front.
Check inside front tyre wear.
Put it in 5th gear and floor it up to to 3200revs - if a little red injector light comes on then this could spell trouble.
Check the air con works correctly.
If it is around 65k make sure it has had the cambelt done - if not then walk.
Check all gauges work correctly - water temp speedo revs - don't worry about fuel gauge they are renowned to be crap on Alfas
Oil level can be a pig to check as the angle the dip stick is at, so when pulling the dip stick out try not to twist it as this can cause bad readings of the oil level.
Make sure it has been serviced reguraly.
Rev the nuts of it in 3rd and listen to the gorgeous straight 5 cylinder engine - this is what sold the car to me.
They can also be remapped - Angel Tuning are regarded as the best in the business - I've read many many good reviews about them and the are v.v.helpfull. I''ve not got mine done yet but will be within the next 2 months. They take the 156 2/4 JTD up to about 189bhp andthe fuel economy INCREASES beleive it or not.
As a rule before remap the 2.4 JTD costs about £55 to fill up and you'll get at least 500miles from that - this also sold it to me.
