147 Petrol or JTD?

I've been on the lookout for a 147 for a few weeks now and have been looking at the 2 litre however the cambelt stories are getting me nervous.

I've now started to look at a JTD as an alternative is this a safer buy?

Also should there be much difference in the price between a 8valve and the 16valve. Just test driven the 16v and was impressed by the performance. The diesel economy will be a bonus too.

Re: 147 Petrol or JTD?

You won't have a problem with the cambelt if you change it every 36000 miles.
If you don't enjoy the thrills of revving the nuts off your car the JTD could well be the better bet, the converse hold true for the 1.8/2.0L T-sparks.
