Brake Caliper Makeover

Hey people,
I have an Alfa 147 1.6, I have decided to give the calipers a good makeover.
I started today, cleaned the rear driver side caliper thoroughly with a wire brush and painted on the Metallic copper caliper paint.
Now i get to the front.
The front caliper has a thin bar on the outside, what is this? How do i take it off? i dont want to paint it really.

Re: Brake Caliper Makeover

Think it was referred to as an ant-rattle spring. Ping it off. In my youth these would of been easy to re-fit, now I struggle with them! Hate this getting old thing!
