I have recently been trying to obtain some roof edge seals. These are the bits of rubber that run from the wing mirrors, over the top of the roof and end at the tailgate opening.
The end section, near the tailgate corrodes leaving the white metal inside poking out of dry, cracked rubber, looking unsightly and generally horrid.
These bits are very expensive from Alfa, and no aftermarket bit exists.
The problem is the poor choice of material for house two rubber covered, metal bits between the back corner of the rear door and the tailgate.
After much searching, I have located an easy and quick fix.
This stuff - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ribbed-Rub...item4ac99f7d63
It's an exact fit fir the rear channel on SWs.
Simply cut off the knackered end section of the seal, and then push a piece of this into the gulley. Fits perfectly, is pure rubber, so no more corrosion. Simple cut to fit. The seal on the roof edge has one push in, button style fixing to remove then pulls off. The fix takes all of 5 minutes and looks significantly better than corroded white metal dust and flaking rubber.
This seal stuff is £2.30 a metre (that's enough) and is free PandP.
I always try to share ways of cutting costs and making life better in a car-y way.
