Occasional clutch slip and odd noise...
Alfa 147 mk2 1.6TS (05)
I've been having a problem for the last few months where every now and then the clutch slips when trying to pull away. Whether on flat or hill, loaded or unloaded car.
It may slip and judder a couple of times then after a while be fine.
Doesnt seem to matter if the car is warm or not, or if conditions are wet, dry, hot cold etc.
In addtion to this I also noticed that since the weather has been warmer and/or i drive for more than 30 minutes or so, I have a metal rattling sound coming from under the car. I can't distinguish whether its driver or passenger side (UK).
It sounds like if you had a small piece of metal, say a coin or large screw on a piece of string, ting ting tinging along. It happens at between 2000-3000 rpm, and if i push the throttle it rattles to a stop while accelerating, like a brrrrrrppppp, then will continue again when revs drop.
Don't make the noise when the car is decelerating (no throttle pressed) or when the car is cold.
Neither fault seems to have gotten worse in the last few months, but they are niggling me now. I sense a problem in the future!
Are the two related? Is it some weird sign of needing a new clutch?
