147 Front Wheel Bearing

Just bought a new (to me) 2006 147 1.9JTDM - a few minor issues, the first of which was front o/s wheel bearing. In case anyone is tempted to replace themselves....

Not as bad as I thought: purchase a bearing & hub kit approx. 100 remove stub axle - you will need a ball joint breaker. Avoid removing ABS senor at the hub end, instead follow the wire under the plastic wheelarch liner up on the bulkhead and remove at first connection.

You still need to get the bearing out but all good local tyre-fitters should be able to press out old & press in new. Then its just a case of re-fitting. All in all a half days work for a fairly competent DIYer.

Don't be afraid to tackle it yourself.

Just out of curiosity what did they charge for the removal/replacement of the bearing ?
