156 2.5 V6 Battery

I am trying to replace a dead battery in a 156 2.5 V6 - after removing the belt, the battery still doesn't want to move... Am I missing something??? The space is very tight in the engine bay and I can't see what is preventing the battery from moving...
Please help!

Remove the rubber inlet pipe between the MAF and throttle. You can get away with just removing it from the throttle end.

Working from memory here but i think there is a plate that bolts down and clamps it in place on the far side (the side nearest the windscreen).

I think you need a 13mm socket and an extension.

Its been so long since I last looked so I may be wrong, but if right just get a torch and you should see it with no problem.

Re: 156 2.5 V6 Battery

brentford, after u remove the belt, u need to undo the bracket that holds the belt. undo the engine-side one. it clamps down on the battery and prevents it from moving even without the belt.

u'll need to remove the intake hose to get access to the bracket.
