Alfa Romeo 147

Brake Caliper Component

Hey people,
Ive ordered the paint and the necessary to give my brake calipers on the 147 a nice new look. On the exterior of the two front calipers there is a thin bar that appears from the middle of the caliper behind the pad within, and almost spans the whole length of the caliper. There isnt any on the rear calipers. I want to remove these to do the paint job on the calipers. Anyone know what im talking about? What does it do? How do i remove it?

Re: Brake Caliper Component

That might be the anti-rattle spring - it just pulls straight out of the caliper.

gazza 82, wondered about it being the springs, but wasn, too sure with the reference to a bar. Anyway, looks like you have answered the question, great.

Re: Brake Caliper Component

Ah, nice one Gazza. I wasn`t confident enough to reply, I thought it may be one of the springs on the side of the pad sticking through or even the bar with a washer on either end that fits on the bolts that fix the calliper to the hub - none of which sounded quite right.
You seem to have got it right, though
