V6 Exhaust Manifolds

Hello All,

Has anyone here had any expierence of changing the manifolds on a 156 2.5 v6, Mine are blowing (both) Now it think that its most likley just the gaskets (hopefully) as it had a top end rebuild after a cambelt failure 20k miles ago (no reciept for new gaskets).

Anyway how much of a pig of a job is it to do?? Im pretty handy with a set of spanners ( i have just rebuilt a 1983 sunbeam lotus ) but from previous expierence working on the alfa (radiator/stat change & alternator) I have learnt they can be a real arse to work on.

Any info would be much appreciated!!!

Re: V6 Exhaust Manifolds

front bank are quite easy to remove from the bottom. rear bank is more difficult. lotsa stuff in the way.

try to localise the leak first. a lot of times, its from the bottom flange where it joins the downpipe. that's prone to leaking. a gasket change usually fixes that.
