Last Friday week I collected my car from the dealer complete with new engine etc. That week end I went to London to look at a Lotus Type 49 Elise for my son. Good trip which revealed a couple of small hiccups. Namely a surge in accelleration and no cooling from the aircon plus the dealer told that a wheel bearing was rumbling at the front.
Next Friday back went the car and all was fixed in record time plus the loan of a nice 159 ( pleased to say no insurance surcharge).
Interestingly the air-con had to be re-gassed. The dealer tells me that this is not the first time that this has happened. The surging was the MAF which they now consider a stock item.
Two days ago the car refused to start - clicking from the engine ( solenoid I expect). Charged battery over night and same again in the morning.
To cut a long story short the excellent dealer sent mechanic and driver to collect car and guess what it started perfectly!
Still off it went for full check which was ok.
If Alfa are serious about going forward they need dealers like mine and they need to talk to their customers who are in trouble. That way we will all go forward. End of preaching!
Moral of story is get a nice thoughtful service manager. Thanks to Rob at Meridien Milano in Bournemouth/Poole
Oh yes and I had a letter from Alfa HQ with gift voucher.
