This thought just came to my mind answering another thread about oil and engine cleanness.
I have never had the financial means to buy a showroom fresh car. And not something i have ever considered. Also because i have expensive taste, and always go for the most desirable top model car of the particular range. So like most people, I tend to wait for our old friend mr depreciation to do his work.
I remember back as a kid, when i would go with my father to pick up his brand new performance cars...The wonderful new car feeling, as you drove it off the forecourt. Magic as i remember. The smell of the new leather. And the fact no one else had owned it.
Wonder how long this feeling lasts? As i don't have the experience of this first hand.
Then i got to thinking, wouldn't it be lovely to have had a brand new example of my dream GT, "mine from day one". Not putting right other peoples problems, or wear and tear. I must admit i am fortunate enough to have found a really nice one owner low mileage example of a GT 170 q2 recently. But still she has and will need things addressing like new oil cooler pipes..cambelt...waterpump..etc.
Would love to hear from people who bought their dream cars from new, and did they feel it was worth while? And how long did they keep them.
