KM / MILE Data Decreasing

İ bought my car from an alfa romeo spare parts seller 2 years ago.

Yesterday i connected my car's ecu with diagnostic software and get shocked... İt is "odometer" data was 200000 km. But in dash it seems 150000 km.

İ think first owner of car changed the dash panel or maybe decreased it.

After this issue we start to talk about this problem in my countries forum. Somebody said that,
"there is no way to
change the data which we read with a diagnostic software. Only the km data that we see on dash can be changed or decreased. But when we connected to car with a diagnostic software (fiatecu scan, multiecu scan) then we always see the orijinal km data on pc screen (odometer)"... He said.

But i claim that, every data can be changed. As all we know when we connected to the car with software, the km data which is showen by odometer data, is the data that ecu sends. But the people who does this job, can also change the data which we read with connecting pc and shown as "odometer data".

İf there is really no way to change the km data which we see on pc (odometer data ) then what is the aim of this job? İs this people can only change the km data on dash? İt is so silly because i will understand this lie after connecting to car with diagnostic software????

take out instrument binnacle speedo or rev counter and check year of manufacture on a sticker matches, it may not match year of manufacture of car, you have your answer, someone fitted a new dash, does anyone know if the KM/Miles reside on both instrument cluster and ECU like some other cars? dont know about clocking cars to lower mileage though, very possible,
