Instrument removal questions... help!!

Hi Everyone,

Hoping someone who has pulled apart their instrumentation on their 156 can help me out...

1. There are some marks like water behind the glass of my rev counter dial... is it hard to remove the dial and take of the glass to clean behind it? (or is it a factory sealed unit with non-removable glass?)

2. For some reason when I bought my car, the rev counter came with a silver ring around it, but the speedo didn't have one! I think one of the instruments must have been replaced with the wrong part. Does anyone know if it's easy to remove the rev counter and take the silver ring away so they match?

Any instructions / advice / experiences would be great!

There is a screw on the top of the bezel (look from below and you will see it)

Remove this and the bezel pulls out to reveal the 3 screws that hold each instrument in place and thats you.

Re: Instrument removal questions... help!!

The whole unti comes apart. When I had 8.5k miles added onto mine I watched the fella do it. He put a fingerpring on the inside of the plastic which I wiped off before he put it all back together
