The clutch judders on mine, around 2K rpm in 3rd, 4th and 5th but it hasn't slipped yet.. Can smell a bit funny when I boot it though
Red line in first takes about 1 second now, I don't know many cars that keep up from the mark on a drop-clutch start.. Oh how I love my JTD! I test drove a 225bhp TT the other day and I'm not saying it wasn't nippy but it was bloody boring..
Windows down, floor it to 5K and hear the turbo ROAR!!!
Totally awsome mate, i have the same feeling toward mine.
Mind your clutch tho mate, thats how mine started going, as you said about the judder in the higher gears, thats when the turbo will come "on boost" and quite simply the judder is all that imense torque trying to get the power through the transmission to the road!
Keep driving it like that and its a new clutch deffo, especially if its still on the original one with a few miles on its back. (whats it done BTW?)
I know this for a fact, cos i mine did the same, but i just thought it would be ok, than the judder changed to slipping, and next it was a new clutch @ £850
(still worth it tho, as i love my JTD to bits).
One final point for you, you`ll like this!
Last june, i had a silly idea to get rid of my JTD and get a civic type-R, so i found one at a dealers and to cut a long story short, went for a blast, and was not very impressed as it was no quicker than my jtd,on return of test drive, the salesman was proper bulling the type-r up about how quick it was and my diesel was no comparison, so i told him to take it for a spin, and guess what, after me coaxing him into giving it some beans, he totally s**t himself, and said i was wasting my time with the type-r and would be mad to get rid of my JTD!!, but if i did, could HE buy it!
So,Obviously no deal wa done and i came back to my senses!! HA HA
