I just dropped 1300 on a sportwagen the same age, with 60k on the clock, and a pretty complete service history. I'l probably give it a precautionary CamBelt and Service over the next month or so, but apart from that, only one very small ding the the boot, and the obligatry scuffs from loading over the bumper on the sportwagen..
Stevieboy what sort of condition\mileage did you find for 900?? I know the sprtwagens always go for more, so I think were probably in the same ball park but I'm curious.
I'll try and get a picture upload shortly.
I ordered some BG44K last night after SchrodingersCat's message, I'm also told that the problem can be cured by misting the inlet with water above about 2000rpm on a hot engine. This apparently steam cleans the back of the valves, and removes the carbon very effectively. Infact if the fuel is direct injection the water steaming makes more sense than any of the others (apart from possibly seafoam used the same way) as the fuel as you say is missing the inlet valves, misting with water will contact the valves, and I assume turn to steam and help to remove the carbon.
