Pipe from fuel filter going to the high pressure pump may have a hole in it - like mine did a few weeks ago.
As you look at the filter, it's the one that is attached to the right of the fuel filter, that is attached with a black push fitting, with a white/grey push "button" and the hose "snakes" over to the left and is attached to the fuel pump with EXACTLY he same black fitting.
Absolutely pished the fuel out and I lost a quarter of a tank in no time.
A new pipe from alfa is £40 and it's pretty crap in design in my opinion (will come back to this point). The alternative is to get a pipe off an older car, remove the pipe from the push fit fittings, attach a length of fuel pipe from a decent, local motor factors, use plastic tie clips to get it out of the way of the fuel filter housing and away you go.
The reason I think the new pipe is pants is because there is an inner skin and this is covered over with a rubber pipe. The black push fittings are moulded into the inner sheath/skin and the pipe, because of its moulded shape, can sit quite awkwardly, i.e. it might be difficult to get it out of the way of the fuel filter housing. HOWEVER, i do concede that the rigidity offered by the new pipe, particularly with the hard inner sheath is a good idea - saves it rubbing through i suppose!
For reference, my car is a 2006 and this had the "older" pipe on it - as such, I was able to detach the existing hose and "fashoin" one myself which sits much better and out of the way of the filter housing.
