Typical Newbie thread, 147 buying advice please
Just signed up on here for some advice on the 147. To give you the background my wife has just sold the her old Mini Cooper as she's now doing a lot of miles for work and the Mini was just not practical for it really. So with a budget of £4k we're now looking at various mid sized Hatchbacks to replace it. I've always loved the look of Alfa's and the interiors always seem to blow the competition out of the water. But Alfa's don't seem to have a great reputation for reliability. Now I know they used to be notorious for electrical problems (along with any other Italian mark) but I've heard quite a few horror stories about the engine reliablity recently. Now, I've had 2 MGF's and contrary to popular belief I've not had a HGF yet, so I know that the best way to find out about horror stories is to ask owners.
So, to my point, are they generally reliable? What sort of things should I be looking for in amongst the service history/receipts? Any common faults that could finish up costing me a small fortune? Anyone know of a good Independent specialist within 50 miles of nottingham?
Any help and advice you guys could give would be much appreciated.
