People of the AO forum I am about to bring this discussion to an end with some rather good news................
after serious thinking time with my wife we have decided that for now (meaning the next 19 months at least) the 156........STAYS
Why? Well my wifes parents run a VW Touran (grandchildren duty use) and have said to us that when we really need the extra room ie. holiday time with pram and luggage we can take their car and I will leave them the Alfa
- well maybe the Corsa will do them instead. As this is only going to occur once or twice a year to me it is the best option.
After driving the 156 with all of us onboard it isn't as cramped in there as I first thought - after 7-9 months or so my new born can go in a forward facing seat and at the moment we can cope with the pram in the boot - it takes up most of the space but there is still room for the shopping. The big pram isn't going to be around forever either.
I just can't justify the financial outlay at the moment and also I feel I fell into the trap of 2 children must mean bigger, newer car when the alternative was staring us in the face - a free to use Touran when we need it.
So now I am going to lavish some attention on my beloved 156 and finally get the belts and tensioners done (I know
) - it has just reached 31000 miles so I think it will be fine but there is now some start up noise so best to get them done and the MOT at the same time - Heath Road Garage here I come.
Thanks to everyone again for their time in replying to this thread and now I am staying I am aiming for the 4th and 5th green leaf!!!
edit: more like 4th and 5th silver
