156 starting problems

2 litre twin spark has a new problem.....
starts and runs for about 5 mins then engine stops.
wont restart for about 30-60 mins, but then will start again but
only run for 5 mins.....doesnt mis-fire just stops dead.
Just had the radiator changed..engine did run hot when old rad
failed, but dont think head gasket (or head) damaged...no steam
out of exhaust and no fluid loss.
Any one had a similar problem ?

Re: 156 starting problems

Im not going to pretend I know the definitive answer but it sounds like the crankshaft sensor, have a search on the forum for it and see if the symptoms are the same in the other threads, if i remember rightly people have said its ok when its cold and stops working as it warms up,

Someone with a bit more guidance will hopefully be along soon.

Re: 156 starting problems

Does sound like crank/rpm/tdc sensor.
Although 5minutes is very quick.

Re: 156 starting problems

This sounds decidedly like what is happening to mine at the moment, car starts fine, then unexpectedly the car cuts out, (Injector failure warning light appears) but if I wait about fifteen minutes the car will start up again and be fine for another little while. could this TDC sensor be the cause to this too?
