Buying a GT

hi there,
im thinking about buying an 54/05 plate alfa GT, but was wondering what were the main problems people have come across with this car?
i hear boot rattle is one.
Also what are the average service costs for this car?
Roughly how much does it cost to replace simple things like tyres or exhausts. any info would be most appreciated. thanks

Re: Buying a GT

I have had very little trouble with my 1.9 JTD GT. I've had plenty of bulbs pop, but I change these myself. The cost of tyres is around £90 per corner, servicing averages £300, although I've got the dreaded 72,000 mile service which I think is £600. The dealer tried to charge me £400 for new pads and discs but I got an independant to do this for £150.

Hope this helps.

Re: Buying a GT

The best piece of advice I can give anyone is to NOT BUY FROM ARNOLD CLARK!!!!!!!! This dealership is a disgrace and is exactly why Alfa dealerships give Alfa a bad name. I own a black 1.9 JTD and it is quite honestly the sexiest thing on the road. I unfortunately had all sorts of hassle with it due to the Edinburgh dealership employing blind, deaf and dumb service personnel who quite honestly didn't have a clue at what they were doing and had the cheek to try and take me for a mug. I now refuse to take my beloved GT back to any Arnold Clark dealership and deal with an independent garage. If I need to have Alfa dealership work carried out on it I take it to Newcastle Benfield.
