Ok, so I deployed to Afghanistan and dropped my car off to a local shop that looked decent enough judging from the cars they had there.
Problems I had:
Overheated in April - I had replaced thermostat in December, may not of bled system properly.
Both overhead valve covers were leaking a good amount of oil.
Unsure if timing belt had ever been changed (04 with 60K Miles)>
So I have them fix the valve covers, replace timing belt and water pump, flush coolant, give it a tune up.
I told them not to rush since I was deploying (maybe a mistake telling an Italian to take their time). After two month my wife finally picked it up. They tried to charge 2200 Euro when estimated 1600 Euro, after some yelling in bad Italian we got them down to 1800 euro. They said they found more wrong with the radiator once they got it apart, so I don't know if they actually replaced the radiator or just coolant lines, not really sure and I didn't get a picture of the parts in my trunk from my wife.
They said to bring the car back in 1000km's for a pressure check. What would this be for? And does 1800 euro (1275 GBP) seem reasonable for what was done?
