Another thread about 147 knocking sounds
My lovely 147 has been making a groaning noise from the passenger side when driving over speed bumps and pot holes for the last 3 months, and yesterday I decided to get it sorted.
Booked it into a small local garage, and they diagnosed it as the track rod end being worn, £50 including labour. I was skeptical (because of what I've read on here) but they said that it needed changing regardless, so I got it done. Didn't fix the squeak.
They said that the suspension bushes were worn and would need changing soon, and that could be the source of the squeak, but I decided to leave it for now. Now today I was driving along a smooth road and all of a sudden a knocking noise started. It comes while driving at low speed (~30mph usually), and only last for a few seconds at a time.
What should the garage be looking for? I've seen conflicting accounts while searching the forums - some suggest bushes/wishbone, others say anti-roll bar?
How much should I be expecting to pay?
