I first drove my first Gt in 2006. Believe it or not it was an avis hire car. I lived abroad at that point and used to hire cars to visit my friends and family up north. I hired 3 GT jtd's in total from avis..
My first encounter with the Gt was in holland in 2004. My parents had just retired and dad being an alfa fan wanted to buy one in left hand drive. As i was living in NL at the time, and with a chunk of tax cut on the windscreen price it made sense to buy one there.
Long story short there was a waiting list at that point on the just released jtd. And my parents sadly as they needed a vehicle for their move abroad ended up buying a Land rover instead.
I remember being near Utrecht with the ex girlfriend, and we went to an alfa dealer there. I was clean blown away by the Gt in the showroom, i fell in love instantly. And that point i was a hardened audi fan.
Roll on 2 years and the first silver reg wvs6yzp avis turismo GT jtd i had for 3 days. I think i did 500 miles in those days...drove her for miles down to the east coast...fell in love. I knew then one day i would have one.
Bought my first GT 3 years ago.. A 2004 jtd black basic car. Great machine. Think i paid just over 3 grand for a 50k car from a small dealership in kent. And spent hard earned at Autolusso getting her to how i wanted her. Eibach ARB's and koni fsd's and eibach springs. Then a remap at angel tuning in kent. The car was unbelievable. And was very grateful to Ned for his GT experience and how to make the car handle and reliable.
The plan was when i came to 70k was to part ex her for another Gt this time a black clover. Didn't happen. I tried to part ex her with Veloces London. And they offered me a joke price for my car. Which quite frankly totally put me off buying another one. So i deflected to audi again for 3 years. Not a waste of time as i learnt a lot with my TTqs. And met some great people. Eventually ending in a magazine feature before i sold her.
Yet my heart was set on another Gt. And having got my money back on my qs, it was time to look for my dream black clover GT 170 q2. I went to see Ned at Autolusso for a chat, as i was considering my comeback with a Gt V6. After a quick but factual chat with the guru, it seemed a rare Gt 170 jtd would make better sense for me.
Unfortunately all the clover 170's i looked at were unloved dented higher mileage cars. And she had to be black..lol.
Finally and ironically i came full circle and found a great example at..yes you've guessed it Veloces of london . I didn't have a choice, they had the car i wanted, a one owner 31k black clover 170 q2. So a deal was done. And consequently here i am.
Its a great feeling to know you are in the right machine..no questions no doubts. Look forward to my new GT journey and future mods.
