Air Conditioning clutch engaging/disengaging every few seconds.
I hope somebody with a bit of A/C expertise can assist in troubleshooting this.
I re-gassed my A/C after it was barely cooling in the beginning of summer. This was fine for a day or two but then I noticed the A/C clutch engages, disengages and then all over again - every few seconds. For fear of damage, I turn it off after a minute.
This happens only when the ambient temperature is high (25+ Celsius) - during the hotter hours like midday.
When the ambient temperature is lower (early morning or late evening/night) - the clutch engages fine and the A/C blows nice cold air without any issue and will continue to do so for a long trip.
When I leave the car parked in the shade/lower level parking and go for a drive in midday, the A/C will work fine until the sun and heat finally get to it - and then the A/C clutch does it again.
Does this point to:
Too little gas?
Too much gas?
Faulty Pressure Switch?
Any other gremlin?
Thanks for any help on this. This summer is really hot.
Cogito Ergo Zoom - I think. Therefore I drive fast.
