Alfa 156 Gta

didnt think 5mm was enough to cause the wheel not to locate properly on the existing hub

very odd maybe something was lose as it shouldnt cause issues.

Tell me about it mate? Mating faces were clean, everything bolted up tight and aligned? Still vibration. Mind you as from previous experience you only need one spacer to be out of true to get vibration. I had a faulty eibach front 12mm spacer on my TTQS once..

As promised I took a pic of the logo projector lights last night. I'm surprised how effective they are considering they were only 12!...

Well busy day doing my first oil and airfilter change on my GT clover for her 32k service. I service my cars every 6-7k miles and dealer/specialist every other service, to keep my service stamps.
Erm borderline interesting to say the least. Glad its done now, next time will be easy. Also fitted a fumoto drain valve. Gave her 5 litres of millers nanotech 5w40. And fitted a K&N panel filter. Not to mention hours of spraying on rust protection to the front end vulnerable areas of the car. Definitely need a zeatek alu undertray in my life too, as the fitting on my oem drip tray are well past their best, to be polite.

Really grateful to superflyguy9, for the little GT jtd servicing tutorial on changing the airfilter, and removing the fuse box etc.

Right time for a cup of tea..

Damien.

Not knowing anything about spacers & stuff maybe a silly question ,

Can't spacers be balanced a bit like wheels do .

That's a bugger . I thought maybe they could balance like wheels or cams .

I got a call from Gazella last week saying my strut brace was on its way from germany. But sadly still nothing? Will send them another email. To be fair when they contact me they are quite respectable. Really hope it turns up soon.

Yes EVEL i have four spacers but one is out of true. To be fair the supplier is sending me out 2 more. What i would like to do is weed the bad one or ones out..Wonder if a tyre place could hook one up to a balancing machine? Rather than take my wheels on and off all the time..

Replaced the checkstrap on the drivers door, such a result as it's no longer clacking and took less than 30 minutes.
Changed brake switch so should reduce frequency of abs faults and only took 2 minutes so result again.

Quite tempted by these...did you have to remove the door cards to fit them or can you ping them in by loosening the bottom edge?

Easier than a GTV then?...a right pain with far too many screws, most of which never wanted to go back in place on refitting.

Went to my local alfa dealer ordered a new rear exhaust hanger rubber...hmm exiting..not. Parked next to a black "Guligetta" clover and thought my GT looked so much nicer. Just pray my Gt clover lasts the test of time..because the Alfa's future is not appealing to me at present. :-/

Over the last couple of days I have been trying to give the 156 JTDm 20V a service. This is my first Alfa and my first diesel so I have been taking things pretty steady. So far the air filter and fuel filter are done. Air filter is in a slightly awkward place but sorted, fuel filter was pretty easy. The car felt much more responsive after replacing these two. Next up was oil, oil filer, EGR valve, and MAP sensor clean up. Oil all drained, no problem. Oil filter, what a complete t**t, ordered a new removal tool, should arrive today. EGR valve was not too bad, MAP sensor was hideously gunked up, both parts are now all cleaned up and will get refitted this morning. Fitted LED side light bulbs, they look pretty good and do not give bulb error.

Noticed both front tyres are wearing on the inside edge so will have to get alignment looked at very soon. Gave both front wheels a good clean and removed all previous balance weight adhesive remains.

Need to replace thermostat so had a good look at that while I had the battery out for the air filter change so have ordered a clic hose clip removal tool so that I can hopefully get the hoses off without too much of a struggle. Brake fluid needs a change as well so that is on the to do list.

One pleasant surprise was that when I went to remove the undertray, I found that a previous owner had fitted an aluminium one, which was nice so gave that and the engine cover a little clean down.

Well, I had better go and get on with it.

Our GT got a run out for the first time in months.

321 miles at 25.7mpg. Not exactly hanging about either including a short double limit blast on a flat arrow straight section of the M4 I know well.

Next use will be in for new oil & filter then off to Holland later this month for the SCARB event

Would love to have made a trip to holland myself. Maybe next year. Have a great time.
